We are a faith-based ministry helping Lexington County residents who are in crisis. If you are experiencing an out-of-the-ordinary crisis that is putting you in financial hardship, we may be able to help. We provide basic human needs such as food, clothing, prescription medication vouchers, baby essentials, school supplies, and disaster recovery. We can also provide financial assistance, in some cases, and offer resources and guidance in other areas (see the list below).

Financial Assistance

Financial Assistance

To apply for financial assistance, you must:

  • be a Lexington County resident who has not received financial assistance from Mission Lexington in the past

  • have a current crisis that has led you to be unable to pay your current financial obligations

  • have a stable and consistent income that will allow you to cover all necessary expenses moving forward

Please bring all of the following documentation to apply:

  • South Carolina Identification for each adult in the household

  • SCID must match the current address OR proof of change updated with the Department of Motor Vehicles

  • Social security cards for ALL in the household, including children

  • Proof of crisis (something out of the ordinary causing financial hardship, along with supporting documents)

  • Proof of income (social security award letter, 3 most recent pay stubs, unemployment benefits)

  • If requesting assistance with a utility bill, we need the three most recent copies of that utility bill

  • If mortgage or rental assistance is requested, we will need the following:

    • Mortgage statement

      • or

    • Current signed lease with your name and address of the rental property

    • Landlord’s contact information including address, phone number, and email address (if applicable)L

    • Detailed ledger to include the monthly rent amount, the total amount due, and fees or additional charges with the current balance

    • Eviction notice (if applicable)

Submitting an application is not a guarantee of services. Each application will be reviewed on an individual basis. A determination will be made after your application has been processed.

Food Pantry

If you are experiencing a crisis and unable to provide food for your family, we may be able to help. To apply for food assistance:

  • Documented proof of the current crisis is required.

  • You must present all of the following:

    • proof of Lexington County Residency

    • a photo ID for each adult in the household

    • a Social Security card for all household members

If approved, personal care items and cleaning supplies will be provided, if available, along with your food. Clothing vouchers for our thrift store may also be provided.

**A client may re-apply no sooner than 6 months from the last date of food service.

Emergency Food
 

  • The Food Pantry is authorized to distribute a “weekend” food package, typically on Fridays.

 

  • Emergency Food is a “one time only” service

Food For Living Program

Our Food For Living program provides households with food once a month. To apply, you must present all of the items listed below:

  • a photo ID for each adult in the household
     

  • proof of Lexington County Residency
     

  • a Social Security card for all household members
     

  • one of the following forms of income for the current year

    • Social Security Benefit Letter

    • Disability Benefit Letter

    • VA Benefit Letter

 

**You must renew each year by presenting your current award or benefits letter.

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

Those who qualify for FFL can pick up food at one of our Mobile Food Pantry

sites listed below. It distributes food to each location once a month.

  • Pine Ridge

  • Swansea

  • Gilbert

  • Pelion

  • Batesburg-Leesville
