Addressing Hunger

  • If you are experiencing a crisis and unable to provide food for your family, we may be able to help.

    To apply for food assistance:

    ​

    • Documented proof of the current crisis is required.

    • You must present all of the following:

      • proof of Lexington County Residency

      • a photo ID for each adult in the household

      • a Social Security card for all household members

    ​

    If approved, personal care items and cleaning supplies will be provided, if available, along with your food and pet food as available. Clothing vouchers for our thrift store may also be provided.

    ​

    **A client may re-apply no sooner than 6 months from the last date of food service.
     

    *Walk In applications accepted Monday-Thursday, 9am-1pm in our Social Services Office*

    ​

    • The Food Pantry is authorized to distribute a “weekend” food package, typically on Fridays.

     

    • Emergency Food is a “one time only” service

  • Our Food For Living program provides households with food once a month. To apply, you must present all of the items listed below:

    ​

    • a photo ID for each adult in the household

    • proof of Lexington County Residency

    • a Social Security card for all household members

    • one of the following forms of income for the current year

      • Social Security Benefit Letter

      • Disability Benefit Letter

      • VA Benefit Letter

     

    **You must renew each year by presenting your current award or benefits letter.
     

    *Walk In applications accepted Monday-Thursday, 9am-1pm in our Social Services Office*

  • Those who qualify for the Food for Living Program are eligible to pick their food up from our Mobile Food Pantry which visits the following locations once a month:

     

    • Pine Ridge Senior Center

    • Tri-City Senior Center

    • Pelion Senior Center

    • Swansea Senior Center

    • Gilbert Senior Center

    • Batesburg-Leesville (Olive Branch Baptist Church)

     

    Applicants may apply onsite at the time of service by bringing the following documentation:
     

    • a photo ID for each adult in the household

    • proof of Lexington County Residency

    • a Social Security card for all household members

    • one of the following forms of income for the current year

      • Social Security Benefit Letter

      • Disability Benefit Letter

      • VA Benefit Letter
